Scandella Gets Back In; Miettinen Still Out

After yesterday’s optional practice at Harvard, the Minnesota Wild had the entire team on the ice for today’s morning skate at TD Banknorth Garden, where the Wild has never lost. Antti Miettinen skated for the first time today since suffering a contusion on Sunday, but he will not be ready to return tonight.

Head Coach Todd Richards said Niklas Backstrom also isn’t ready to return because he’s not 100% recovered from an injury, so Jose Theodore will look for a third straight win.

The Bruins have picked up at least a point in their past six games, five of which were on the road. The B’s have some big boys up front, and Richards will put the much larger Marco Scandella back on the blueline in place of Jared Spurgeon.

In non-Wild related news, there was some interesting topics of conversation in the stands today centering around some internet news. The first was Minnetonka’s Andrew Prochno splitting a puck in half with a slap shot during a USHL game in Sioux Falls. The other interesting news was out of Buffalo where the gold-medal winning Russian junior team was not allowed to fly this morning because they were…well…having too much fun on the plane.
