Wild Reassigns Granlund

The Minnesota Wild has reassigned forward Mikael Granlund to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League.

In 19 games with the Wild, the 21-year-old totaled six points (1-5=6) and registered a goal in his NHL debut versus Colorado on Jan. 19.

Before being recalled by Minnesota, Granlund skated in 21 games in Houston averaging a point per game (8-13=21). He was named the AHL Rookie of the Month for October scoring 10 points (3-7=10) and a plus-5 rating in seven games. Granlund was Minnesota’s first-round pick (ninth overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

  1. It’s about time. One less piece of confusion to an already semi complete puzzle. Maybe Yeo can stop juggling lines now and focus on the power play. #15 back to line 2? #63 > #64

  2. hope he gets another chance in the first team I like granlund

  3. Yeo sucks big time! Sack him! He can’t puzzle anything together, even if the pieces were numbered. Modern hockey is about placing the players of the right roles in the right spot – you can’t put a playmaker as a fourth line center or with a has-been powerplay specialist who doesn’t defend. Is Suter’s +- rating worth the multimillions? I think not. Nobody on the Wild defense can pass when everything offensive in the game today should start from your own blue line. Wild players, especially defenders, can’t see open spaces where to pass and thus only dump the puck in and the forwards, who mostly lack speed, have to chase. Dreadful.

    • The Wild have never played as an offensive powerhouse. At times it may be frustrating. Yeo demoted Granlund to fourth line, then scratched, now AHL… I agree that the line juggling has gotten a wee bit out of control but it is a short season. Be thankful that we’re in first right now. Yeo’s coaching style is built for the playoffs, unfortunately we just have to hope the goals continue to trickle in to get us there.
