Wild Seeks Second-Straight Win

The Wild is looking to put together a little win streak and the team will have to go through the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena tonight in Glendale.

Yesterday, the Wild switched up its third and fourth lines. Mikael Granlund will center Dany Heatley and Pierre-Marc Bouchard, while Kyle Brodziak will skate between Torrey Mitchell and Mike Rupp.

The blue line will be the same as Tuesday.

Niklas Backstrom will get the start in net. He’s been a rock lately, going  4-1-1 in his last six starts with a 1.45 goals against average and a .943 save percentage. He’s only allowed one goal in each of the four victories.

Wild Head Coach Mike Yeo talked about the team’s need get off to better starts in games. Yeo said that the Wild has been going into games with a little bit of a “feeling out period” and he’d like to see the team be more aggressive from the get go. It will be important to get a good start tonight, as the Yotes are 106-13-16 when scoring first under head coach Dave Tippett.

Torrey Mitchell, who has really stepped up as a penalty killer, spoke about the Wild’s shorthanded unit.

Jason Zucker talked to WildTV about his chemistry with linemates Devin Setoguchi and Matt Cullen, and the importance for mental focus from a young player.

Finally, we talked to Ryan Suter, who spoke about tonight’s matchup, and also about not making any excuses for the difficulties in the shortened season.
