“I Play Hockey Because…” Essay Contest

We all have reasons why we love to play the sport of hockey. With the 2013 Minnesota Hockey HEP Essay Contest players will have the opportunity to share the reason why they love of the game.

“I play hockey because…” is the topic for the 2013 Minnesota Hockey HEP Essay Contest. Minnesota Hockey is calling all players to submit written essays, in 250 words or less, detailing why they play the game.

This is a fantastic topic because, honestly, there are so many reasons to love and play the sport. For the Lighthouse, it’s because we love dangling goaltenders like a helpless worm on a fishing hook.

From the submitted essays, a panel of judges will select the three finalists, which will be featured on Fox Sports North during the 2013 Hockey Day Minnesota broadcast on Jan. 19, 2013. Of the finalists, a winner will be randomly selected and announced during the broadcast. The randomly drawn winner will have dream day with their teammates at the Xcel Energy Center during the 2013-2014 season.

Additionally, all finalists will have the opportunity to attend a Minnesota Wild game (date is to be determined).
