A lot of sweat went into this week’s Webisodes of “Becoming Wild: Chapter Two,” presented by Toyota, as the crew traveled the globe to get footage of Wild players spending the offseason at home and focused on their summer workouts. In Tuesday’s Webby, “Becoming Wild” checked up on Mikko Koivu (Turku, Finland), Dany Heatley (Kelowna, British Columbia), Kyle Brodziak (Edmonton, Alberta), Mikael Granlund (Helsinki, Finland), Cal Clutterbuck (Welland, Ontario), Tom Gilbert (Madison, Wisconsin) and Niklas Backstrom (Espoo, Finland).
There are a few things that the Lighthouse learned about watching the workouts. First, kind of a no brainer, NHL players have to work hard year-round. Wild.com was so intrigued by the scene, that we’ll be getting Kirk-ified with Wild Strength and Conditioning Coach Kirk Olson next week and have a feature about the experience – when we finally recover. Second, Brodziak found the biggest staircase in all of Alberta. Seriously, save the legs for the season Kyle and use the elevator. Finally, where was Clutterbuck’s mustache? Does he only grow it during the season? The Lighthouse will investigate.
Thursday’s Webisode featured Stephane Veilleux, who has more energy than an eight-year-old that ate an entire bag of Halloween candy. Veilleux went mountain biking, worked out, played tennis and then finished the morning with a game of Ping Pong in the Wild locker room. The forward also just had his first child in July and still has all kinds of energy. Wild.com spoke with Veilleux about becoming a father and his summer, and will have a feature story next week. Check out the “Becoming Wild: Chapter Two,” presented by Toyota, page to catch up on all the Webisodes, here.
Is there anything worse than following your favorite athlete or celebrity on Twitter, only to find out later that it is a bogus account? Well, Wild.com thought it would be a good idea to create a webpage to help fans separate real Wild Twitter accounts from the imposters. To see which Wild players are on Twitter, check out the page, here.
Parise Jersey: Number One
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal has reported that Zach Parise’s Minnesota Wild jersey was the NHL’s top-selling jersey in July at the league’s online store, according to a tweet from the NHL Shop. Read the story, here.
Lucia At Evaluation Camp
