The Wild looks to continue to wreak havoc on the Western Conference playoff picture as Minnesota plays its final road game of the season against the Nashville Predators. Minnesota comes into Music City on a three-game winning streak, all against teams fighting for playoff positioning, and all three games going beyond regulation.
Warren Peters will be back in the lineup, returning after missing one game with an upper body injury. With Peters returning, the Wild has reassigned Cody Almond to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League.
Peters will rejoin line mates Stephane Veilleux and Jed Ortmeyer, on what has been an effective fourth line during the past two weeks. The trio has relished the role of energy line with an edge and will be reunited to continue the theme against Nashville.
Niklas Backstrom gets the start in net for the first time against the Predators this season. He is 7-4-0 lifetime with a 3.03 goals against average and a .903 save percentage in his career against Nashville.
The Preds will start Anders Lindback in net as the team tries to jump into fourth place in the Western Conference standings. The Preds trail the Detroit Red Wings by one point in the battle for home ice in the opening round of the playoffs. Lindback has only appeared in 14 games this season going 3-8-0 while posting a 2.63 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. The Wild’s offense has come alive during the past three games and should be plenty fired up to knock off the Preds’ number two, and spoil Nashville’s hope for home ice.
