Backstrom Out Two to Four Weeks

The Wild’s injury woes continue as Niklas Backstrom was helped off the ice last night. Today, Backstrom had an MRI  and will be sidelined for two to four weeks with a groin strain. Backstrom was hurt during the first period while making a save against the Montreal Canadiens and was unable to finish the game.

In his absence, the Wild recalled Matt Hackett from Houston earlier today and he will backup Josh Harding as the Wild skates against the Detroit Red Wings.

Backstrom is the latest in the long list of injures this year that has cost the Wild 269 man games. Currently on the injured reserve are Mikko Koivu (upper body), Clayton Stoner (lower body), Mike Lundin (lower body), Pierre-Marc Bouchard (concussion symptoms) and Guillaume Latendresse (concussion symptoms).
