It’s been one day short of a month since the Wild has put together back-to-back wins, but gets the opportunity to break that string tonight against the Florida Panthers.
As expected, Niklas Backstrom will get the nod in net after a stellar 2-0 shutout against the Boston Bruins on Hockey Day in America. Matt Hackett will back up Backstrom because Josh Harding has a lower body tweak and didn’t travel with the team. Hackett was recalled yesterday and practiced with the team before heading to the Sunshine State.
Warren Peters will be back in the lineup tonight after serving a one-game suspension for a cross check to the head of St. Louis Blues captain David Backes. He is set to center the fourth line with Matt Kassian and Jed Ortmeyer.
With 21 healthy skaters with the team, Justin Falk will be tonight’s lone healthy scratch.
This is one of the shortest, yet toughest, road swings of the year for Minnesota. After the game, the Wild won’t get much rest and travels to Dallas to face the Stars tomorrow.
