Break’s Over; Koivu and Latendresse Getting Closer

They won’t play tonight, but Guillaume Latendresse and Mikko Koivu both skated on their own again this morning, and both took part in the Wild’s morning skate as well. At the end of the skate, both were put through some heavy skating drills, indicating that their returns are nearing.

There isn’t a timetable for either player, but Head Coach Mike Yeo said that, barring any setbacks, they will probably be on the team’s flight to Denver tomorrow afternoon.

But game action starts tonight with an important matchup with the Nashville Predators tonight. Players have stressed that tonight marks the beginning of the playoff push. The Wild sits in eighth place in the Western Conference, and the next three games will be against teams in the hunt.

The good news is that this brutal road stretch is nearing its end. Following the next three road games, the Wild will be at home for seven of its next 10. If the team can keep its position, especially as Koivu and Latendresse near their returns, there could be a lot of hay to be made by this team in green and red.

Josh Harding in goal tonight, and the same lineup that was used in the last two wins. The home stretch starts now.

  1. The guys being healthy scratches should be playing not the farm team guys, I don’t like it when the young guys play, they get pushed right out of the play because they are not even big enough to stay in the scrum.
The game the Wild played before Christmas was physical and they were
winning. What happened to that idea?
