Despite some delays getting out of snowy Chicago last night, the Minnesota Wild arrived safely in St. Louis early this morning. The team is scheduled to practice at 1:00 PM today in preparation for the Blues tomorrow night.
The news out of St. Louis is that Colton Gillies has been placed on waivers. Gillies is currently with the team, but he’ll find out tomorrow by 11:00 a.m. if he’s been claimed by another club. If not, the Wild can keep him on the roster, or send him to the Houston Aeros of the AHL, but he would require waivers again if the team tried to recall him.
Gillies has appeared in 37 of the Wild’s 44 games this season. He’s picked up two asssits while averaging 9:09 of ice time. A year ago in Houston, he helped the Aeros to the Calder Cup Finals by totaling 26 points (11-15=26) in 64 games, and then posting seven goals and five assists in 24 playoff games.
