Palmer Out For Tomorrow

The Minnesota Wild just wrapped up its final practice of 2011 at Xcel Energy Center today, and while there wasn’t a lot of news, there was some bad news. Jarod Palmer, who scored his first NHL goal last night, was ruled out of tomorrow night’s game against Phoenix. Palmer fell hard and awkwardly into the sideboards last night on a hit by Tom Gilbert. He left the ice, but did return to play out the rest of the game.

But he was not able to go on the ice today, and Head Coach Mike Yeo is calling it an upper body injury.

None of the other injured Wild players were on the ice for today’s practice. That includes Devin Setoguchi, who appears to be targeting January 2 as his first practice back. The team is not going to skate before tomorrow’s game and they’ll have a day off on January 1.

All of the Wild’s prospects at the World Juniors will be in action today. Jason Zucker, Charlie Coyle and Team USA will look to rebound from a loss to Finland when they take on the Czech Republic today at 2:30. Jonas Brodin, Johan Gustafsson and Johan Larsson will look to stay unbeaten when they face Slovakia. Mikael Granlund and Finland will take on Denmark later tonight.

That should about do it. Keep in mind that tomorrow’s start time is at 5:00.
