The Minnesota Wild will be recalling forward Jeff Taffe from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. The Wild also placed Devin Setoguchi on injured reserve retroactive to Tuesday.
With Setoguchi out and Cal Clutterbuck missing yesterday’s practice, the Wild needed some insurance at the forward position. Taffe has been one of the leaders of the first place Aeros, ranking third on the team in scoring with five goals and 12 assists through 23 games. He’s tied for the team lead with 57 shots on goal.
The 30-year-old Taffe is a native of Hastings and a national champion with the MInnesota Gophers. He brings the total number of Minnesotans on the active Wild roster to four along with Matt Cullen, Mike Lundin and Nate Prosser. If he gets into the lineup, Taffe will be playing with his sixth NHL team.
He will wear number 23.
