The Minnesota Wild has recalled center Cody Almond this morning from Houston of the AHL. Almond will join the team in Minnesota today and will be at the Wild’s practice at Xcel Energy Center this afternoon.
Two Wild players – Cal Clutterbuck and Darroll Powe – left last night’s win over Edmonton with lower body injuries. Clutterbuck’s injury was the result of a knee-on-thigh hit by Edmonton’s Ryan Whitney. Powe was hurt when he was checked into an open door on the Oilers bench. The status of both players likely won’t be known until after today’s practice.
This will mark the first callup of the season for Almond, who has appeared in nine games with Houston and has posted a goal and five assists. The 6-foot-2, 209-pounder has appeared in 15 games with the Wild over the last two seasons and posted one NHL goal.
