Is there a better night of the year than the night before Thanksgiving? It’s debatable, but you’ve got to put Thankgiving Eve up there among the elite nights. It’s the kickoff to a long weekend, it’s the night before a major gorgefest and you likely get the chance to see some family and friends you haven’t seen in awhile.
There’s only been one thing missing from Thanksgiving Eve in recent years and that’s a Wild win. The good guys have gone 0-5-1 in the last six home games on the night before Thanksgiving.
Look for that to change tonight as the NHL’s top team hosts the steaming mad Nashville Predators. The Preds will be a little ornery after getting thumped by the Edmonton Oilers last night, but as Mike Yeo said today, he expects a team’s best no matter what.
The Wild will get Marco Scandella back in the lineup tonight, and Niklas Backstrom will get the nod in goal. As for Greg Zanon and Mike Lundin, who again skated today, Yeo did not have a timetable for when they will return. He said they will evaluate the defensemen every day and make the decisions when needed.
That about does it from the banks of the Mississippi for today. However, a reminder to all fans coming to the game on Friday afternoon against Edmonton: allow extra time for travel. With the Hmong New Year celebration taking place at RiverCentre on Friday, parking and traffic will be challenging.
