Ah…the beauty of four days off. The Minnesota Wild’s extended break couldn’t have come at a better time considering how dicey the injury situation looked on Monday. Dany Heatley, Guillaume Latendresse and Greg Zanon were both out that day with groin injuries.
Tonight, only Zanon is expected to be out of the lineup against the Anaheim Ducks. Latendresse has been cleared to play, and he’ll be on a line with Darroll Powe and most likely Colton Gillies. It appears that Brad Staubitz will be the one to come out of the lineup.
Justin Falk will be in the defensive corps with Zanon out, and Niklas Backstrom will get the start in goal.
It might still be too early to look at the playoff picture, but it’s still fun, so let’s do it. Currently, the Wild and Ducks are tied for the eighth playoff spot. The winner of tonight’s game could move as high as fourth in the conference.
Lastly, all fans at tonight’s game will get a Wild scarf. They should look very nice with the orange hats fans received last week when Pittsburgh was in town.
