Staubitz Suspended Pending Hearing

Brad Staubitz has been suspended indefinitely by the NHL for a hit from behind during last nights game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Wild forward will await a hearing and the completion of a review by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan announced today.

Staubitz received a major penalty and game misconduct for checking from behind 4:42 mark of the third period of last night’s game at Xcel Energy Center.

  1. It will be interesting how the league disciplines a superstar after he commits an offense like this. No exceptions.

  2. Interestingly enough this play occurred right in front of me. I don’t know what he was thinking but imo the hit was obviously not a good decision on his part. There really was nothing going on to warrant this. Definitely there should be a suspension. Staubitz is an enforcer. Nothing more and definitely not a superstar.
