Forget everything you read in the previous Lighthouse post. The Minnesota Wild may not recall Casey Wellman today after all. Preparations were made to bring Wellman to New York in case Cal Clutterbuck was unable to play. Preliminary news out of the Big Apple this morning is that Clutterbuck is fine and should be in the lineup tonight. There hasn’t been any official word either way, but the Lighthouse will update when a recall becomes official or not.
Sometimes you need a curveball thrown your way just to keep you alert.
The Wild held a very optional morning skate today at MSG, and Todd Richards used his option. So not much is known regarding the lineup tonight, but it does appear that Jose Theodore will get the start in the cage.
A lot of folks are up in arms after last night’s loss to the New York Islanders. The Wild lost 4-1. They fell to the “lowly” New York Islanders. All the leaves are brown. And the sky is gray.
Let’s take a breather right quick. There are 18 games left for the Wild to make up two points on the eighth spot and four points on the fourth spot in the West. The Wild has not had any pointless streaks longer than three games this season, and if it can win tonight, the skid is snapped at two.
Yes, Mikko Koivu is still out. But the Wild showed it can play without him against two very good teams in California last week. Two rough games does not a season make. But we do need a win tonight on the big Madison Square Garden stage. That will make the sun come out tomorrow. I promise.
