It has been confirmed that the Minnesota Wild will have two players at this year’s NHL All-Star Weekend. Brent Burns will now be joined by Martin Havlat, who was added to the pool of players who will be picked for two teams by Eric Staal and Nicklas Lidstrom on Friday night.
This will be the second career All-Star appearance for Havlat, who leads the Wild with 43 points on 13 goals and 30 assists. As a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, Havlat made his All-Star debut in 2007 and posted two goals and one assist.
Stay tuned to Wild.com for reaction from Havlat.
Havlat will face his former team tonight as the Wild closes out a four-game road trip prior to the break. Niklas Backstrom will get the start in goal, and the lineup will remain mostly the same as the rest of this trip. One change will be Chuck Kobasew moving up to play alongside Matt Cullen and Pierre-Marc Bouchard. John Madden will center Eric Nystrom and Brad Staubitz on the fourth line.
Former Wild first rounder Nick Leddy will face his hometown team for the first time, but Big John Scott will not be in the lineup tonight.
