Granlund Will Return To Action Tonight

Mikael Granlund, the Wild’s first round pick in last June’s NHL Draft, will return to the lineup tonight for HIFK Helsinki after missing 20 games due to a head injury. The team’s top prospect was selected to play for Finland at the World Junior Championships this year, but he erred on the side of caution and did not make the trip to Buffalo.

Prior to his injury, Granlund had scored 11 points (3-8=11) in 12 games with HIFK.

There still is no official word as to the extent of the injury suffered by Jason Zucker after he took an elbow to the head in a win over Slovakia on Tuesday. Team USA is back in action tonight against Germany, but it seems unlikely that he’ll be in the lineup.

Stay tuned to the Lighthouse today as Carly Peters will have an update from practice, and hopefully news on the extent of Marek Zidlicky’s shoulder injury.

  1. Mikael Granlund

    0+1 -1

    2 shots

    15.38 ice time

  2. HIFK lost their home game 3-5 to KÄRPÄT,the game was penalty infested
    HIFK took many stupid penalties.

2 periods Granlund played 3rd line as a winger,3rd period he was moved to first with Ville Peltonen as a center, after 2 HIFK was down 1-4.

Pretty good game for Granlund, few sweet passes, good pace, solid effort all game long.

Granlund was on the ice twice when Kärpät scored

  3. Granlund is the 1st-round pick and all that but, Erik Haula is playing in the junior s in Buffalo where is the prospect update from him.

By the way. as a Finn it is really cool to watch them play in smaller rink.

    Keep your eyes in Jokipakka!!
