With the Minnesota Wild about to hit the road for a week, the club will make two callups this morning. Goaltender Matt Hackett and defenseman Nate Prosser will be recalled from the Houston Aeros, while center David McIntyre will be reassigned to the Aeros. The club has also placed defenseman Justin Falk on injured reserve.
Prosser’s callup gives the Wild seven healthy defenseman with Falk staying back. Hackett’s recall was necessary due to Niklas Backstrom suffering a lower body injury during last night’s win over New Jersey. As of last night, it was believed that the injury was minor, but the team will obviously take precautions with its goaltender.
This will be Prosser’s second stint with the Wild. He’s already played 14 games and notched four assists while averaging 19:40 of ice time in his first stint. He’s played nine games in Houston and is a +8 with two assists.
Hackett was recalled by the Wild last week, but he’s still yet to make his Wild debut. In Houston, he’s 9-3-3 with a 2.11 goals against average and a .927 save percentage with one shutout.
