The Minnesota Wild has recalled goaltender Darcy Kuemper from the ECHL’s Ontario Reign. He will join the team today in Los Angeles as the Wild faces the Kings and will travel with the team tomorrow to Anaheim.
Kuemper, 21 (5/5/90), is 4-0-0 with a 1.47 GAA and a .941 SV% in four starts for Ontario this season. The 6-foot-4, 213-pound native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan has been outstanding stopping 95 of 101 shots faced and leads the ECHL in GAA and ranks third in SV%.
Last season Kuemper posted a record of 45-12-5 with a 1.86 GAA, a .933 SV% and 13 shutouts in 62 games with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He led the WHL in wins, GAA, SV% and shutouts en route to being named the WHL Goaltender and Player of the Year. Kuemper was selected by the Wild in the sixth round (161st overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He will wear sweater number 35 with Minnesota.
